The Captain reports: In a change of format, pairs play was introduced for the first time. Over the weekend 8 clubs competed in 14 rounds of matches (all play all twice), with 8 rounds on Saturday and 6 on Sunday.
John and Claire got us off to a good start with a win over the home side and Barbara and Ted followed it with a draw against Chester.
The weather started well, sunny and breezy but the 3pm game against Bury was interrupted by a torrential downpour but our men went on to win 7 - 5 thanks to John's great perseverance. By the end of the day we led the pack by 1 point.
Sunday's weather was dull, cool and breezy which seemed to to our team. In the final 6 games, we won 3 drew 2 and lost 1 to take the trophy by 3 points from Chester. All team members pulled together, the biggest contribution from Little Lou, with 4 wins and a draw.
A first win for our club in this event. Thanks to the team.
