Midsummer 'BBQ' at the air balloon

The wettest Summer since 1956 prevented the BBQ from going ahead so thirty of us met for a meal after the club session. A raffle and the two for one special treatment raised £95 for the club.

Midsummer BBQ postponed

The severe weather causing flooding in Sheffied and other parts of the country looked set to continue. Even if not actually raining here on Friday the temperature would be low. With just one day to go the commitee decided to postpone the event until things improve.

Southport wins the trivial pursuit ribble challenge

Southport beat Old FCC and New FCC for the second year running to retain the TP virtual cup.

Southport won the highest roll and elected to go in first. They opened with a well controled 5 wedge turn but tripped up when asked to identify the closest republic to the UK. FNM could not pick up the pace from there and FOM blobbed wedge 3 when one of the more difficult questions came up. It only took a couple more turns for Southport pick up the pink wedge and peg out in the middle.

Christmas Party

The party was very well attended and the refurbished Clubhouse venue was very cozy with the bar in operation. Food was arranged by a 'Jacobs Join' and several games were organised along with the Chairman's Quiz. The overall winner (by tie-break shoot-out) was Steph.

Here the challenge was to use the materials provided to design a Christmas decoration and present it as high as possible off the floor. Other challenges included a Croquet Bagatelle game and Croquet Rebus.

Annual Dinner

We returned to the Clifton Park Hotel for the club's annual dinner.

Due to our lawn improvement programme this was held earlier in the year than usual and many members and visitors were unable to attend due to Croquet commitments. However a good evening was had by all who were there.

FCC new and old members mix with visitors from Bury and Southport.
