CHESTER: David Boyd (6), Brian Walton (7), Helen Brophy (9), Paul Watson (10).

Game 1 -Ian/Alan 16 David/Paul 15.
The biggest breaks in this doubles game were from Alan (5 hoops) and David (5 hoops). Both teams were in contention and with 15 minutes to play David scored 3 hoops to finish at peg and gain a 2 hoop lead. Ian had the innings and scored 2 hoops to level the scores. Paul missed a long roquet chance leaving Ian to continue and score the winning hoop point.

Game 2- Philip 14 Brian 22
Game 3- Catherine 21 Helen 5
Catherine used her bisques well to give Fylde a 2-1 lead.

LUNCH:FYLDE 2 CHESTER 1
Game 4- Ian 20 David 23 A close game which David won by 3 points
Game 5 -Alan 22 Brian 23 Alan started well and made an 11 hoop Break to Rover. Brian had a 3 hoop break to Hoop 4. Alan took his second ball to 2 back but a mistake ended the break. Brian now came into the game getting his Red Ball to Peg and Yellow to 3 back. As time was called Alan was 2 hoops ahead and in his time turn split up all the balls to secure the victory. However ,Brian hit in from 20 yards and managed to get around the court with some good rushes and hoop runs to score 3 hoops to win the game.
Game 6-Philip 11 Helen 14 Another close game which Helen won by 3 points
Game 7-Catherine 18 Paul 23

SUMMARY
There were 4 close games and Chester won 3 of them to secure the win. The match was competitive and played in a good spirit by all the players. Congratulations to Chester on their win.

CRAKE VALLEY 4 FYLDE 3

CRAKE VALLEY: Steve Skelton( 2.5), John Henderson (4), Ian Tupling (9), Simon Robins (12).
FYLDE: Liz Wilson (4.5), Ian Theakstone (9), Phil Snowden (12), Alan Morton (12).

Game 1: Steve/Simon v Liz /Alan.
Fylde made little headway in this match with Liz making three small breaks. Simon made a 10 hoop break and with Steve's accurate shooting. the Crake pair took control of the game and won 26-12

Game 2: John 12 Phil 26.
Game 3 Ian Tupling 26 Ian Theakstone 12.

LUNCH: CRAKE VALLEY 2 FYLDE 1.

Game 4 Steve 3 Liz 26.
Game 5 John 26 Ian Theakstone 10.
Game 6: Ian Tupling 3 Phil 26, Phil brought the match score to 3-3 with his second win of the day.
Game 7: Simon 26 Alan 19, Alan made the first break but stopped at Hoop 4 as he was unable to make the roquet after running hoop 3. Simon made a break from Hoop 2 to Rover and with his second ball on Hoop 4 looked in control of the game. However , Alan fought back continuing to take the white ball from hoop 4 to Rover and then the pink ball to 3 back. The game changed when Alan sent a ball off court with a split half roll which gave the innings back to Simon The game could have gone either way as both players had chances but Simon won the game and the match 4-3.

SUMMARY: Thank you to Crake Valley for their hospitality and providing a good sporting match.

FYLDE 4 BURY CAESARS 3

FYLDE: Liz Wilson (4), Andrew Webb (4.5), Alan Morton (12), Betty Bates(16).
BURY CAESARS: Tony Phillips (4),Roger Schofield (5), Ged Smolskas (6), Chris Alvey (8).

DOUBLES: Liz and Alan 7 Tony and Chis 26 Fylde struggled to make headway in this match . Chris made an early break to 1 back and with Tony also making good breaks the Bury pair won this match comfortably.

SINGLES:Game 2 Andrew 14-Ged 12, Andrew was trailing 4-12 when in his time turn he ran 8 hoops to win the game by two points.
Game 3 Betty 26 Roger 14, Betty gave a strong performance and had a comfortable win

Lunch: 2-1 to us.

Game 4 Liz 13-Tony 26.
Game 5 Andrew 22-18, Andrew was 6 points ahead as Roger started his time turn . The four balls were well separated but Roger hit in at Corner 4 and positioned his strike ball to get a rush on Andrew's yellow ball to the hoop at 1 back. Roger ran the hoop and then missed the roquet on yellow but succeeded in also running 2 back from 25 yards. The red ball was several yards away but Roger missed the roquet to give Andrew the win.
Game 6 Alan 18 Ged 26, Alan made the early opening break with the yellow ball closing the break at 2 back and setting a rush to hoop 1 for his red ball. Ged hit in from distance and then took control of the game. with some steady break play. The game looked to be over but Ged failed to score at the penultimate hoop with his black ball allowing Alan to make a 3 hoop break which was ended when he missed an easy cut rush roquet whilst approaching 4 back. Ged didn't miss his second chance and scored the last 4 points to win the game.
Game 7 Betty 26 Chris 14, Another strong performance from Betty to win this game and gain a Handicap reduction to 14.

SUMMARY:Fylde gave a good team performance on difficult lawns. Thank you to the Bury Caesars team for their sporting contribution to the match. Thank you to Liz for providing ice cream treats for all the players on a very hot day. Congratulations to Betty on playing well to achieve a reduction in her handicap. You may also hear about a new Croquet shot at Fylde- 'A Lizzie' Please ask Liz to demonstrate.

BURY PEELERS 5 FYLDE 2

A thorn between two roses.

BURY PEELERS: Malcolm Daines (5), Philip Nuttall (10), Margaret Eccles (12),Richard Leach (14).
FYLDE: Andrew Webb (4.5), Ian Theakstone (9), Alan Morton (12), Betty Bates (16).

DOUBLES: Philip and Margaret beat Ian and Alan 26-12. Both Philip and Margaret made breaks to take a commanding lead . Alan made a 9 hoop break and with Ian adding to the score but it wasn't enough.

SINGLES: Betty beat Malcolm 26-2.
Richard beat Andrew 26-1.
Malcolm beat Andrew 20-18.
Ian beat Philip 26-23. Philip got both balls to Rover and penult and the game seemed to be over. However Ian chipped away at the lead and took control of the game to come from behind and won by 3 points.
Margarert beat Alan 23-19. Alan made a break to Rover with his first ball but Margaret responded by doing the same with her pink ball. Margaret took control of the game and was 8 points in front at when time was called but Alan ran 4 hoops in his time turn to reduce the deficit. Richard beat Betty 26-16. Betty got off to a good start by making a break to Rover but Richard played very well to get his second win.

SUMMARY: Thank you to the Bury Peelers for their hospitality. Whitehead Park is a good venue to play with good lawns and facilities.

FYLDE 5 Southport 2

After lunch singles.

Southport: Brian Lewis (8), Gail Moors (11), Peter Williams(16), Pauline Rooney (18).
Fylde: Ian Theakston (), Alan Morton (12), Phil Snowden (14), Betty Bates (16).

Doubles
Alan and Ian beat Brian and Pauline 18-14. There were two significant breaks in the game. Pauline took the red ball to 2 back and Ian took the black ball to 3 back. Both players went to Rover but with Alan making more hoops than Brian Fylde won the game +4.

Singles
Philip beat Peter 26-15. Peter made a promising start and used his bisques to get his first ball to Rover. However, Phil took control of the game and went on to peg out both balls.
Gal beat Betty 24-23,
Brian beat Ian 26-13,
Philip beat Gail 26-15,
Alan beat Peter 23-15,
Bettty beat Pauline 26-9.

Summary
Thank you to Ian who white lined the lawns at 7am on match day because the weather made it impossible on the Friday. Thank you to the Southport team for playing their part in an enjoyable match.

BOWDON 5 FYLDE 2

Bowdon: John Lucas (3), David Holland (7), Ros Pimlott (16), Andrew Whittaker (16).
Fylde: Andrew Webb (4.5), Alan Morton (12), Phil Snowden (14), Betty Bates (16).

Doubles
David and Ros 23 beat Alan and Phil 13.
The game was fairly even with small breaks being made by all players. David eventually made a good break which took control of the game.

Singles
Betty 26 Beat John 7.
Andrew Bowdon 26 beat Andrew Fylde 7

Singles 3
John 21 beat Andrew 20.
Both players provided an entertaining game. With time turns to come John had a 2 point lead leaving Andrew with a 25 yard roquet in his final turn. Andrew made the roquet and made 2 back but his hoop run left a 6 yard roquet with John's ball resting against the hoop. Enter the Umpire. Andrew struck his ball through the hoop and the green ball moved but it was ruled that his strike ball had hit the inside of the hoop upright causing the green ball to move.

David 26 beat Alan 11.
Ros 15 beat Phil 23.
Andrew26 beat Betty 14

Summary
