Westmorland 3 Fylde Coasters 15
Another Bank Holiday Weekend trip to the Lake District. This time to the beautiful Levens Hall for our last league game against Westmorland.
Teams
Westmorland : David Snaith 6, Elaine Newman 6, Anne Raistrick 12 and Brenda Tidmarsh-Stevens 12.
Fylde Coasters: Alan Morton 4, Jan Smith 6, Sue Elsmore 11 and Claire Pearson 12.
Westmorland had two ladies playing in their first league match and Fylde had Claire who had stepped in at the last minute playing in her second match.
Doubles
Fylde got off to a flying start with Jan and Claire dispatching Elaine and Brenda in double fast time 7 - 0
Alan and Sue took a little longer against David and Anne but won with a great result 7 -1
Singles
Fylde kept up the pressure only losing one game (at the golden hoop) before lunch.
After lunch Fylde marched on winning 6 of the final 8 games.
Claire our newest player had a fabulous day winning all her games and triggering handicap 11.
Jan also won all her games and finished her last game with a great backward jump shot much to the surprise of her opponent Elaine who immediately asked for a coaching session.
Sue also had a great day only losing once at the golden hoop.
Alan had to give away loads of extra turns but still gave a good account of himself winning his doubles and two games.
The Coasters have finished this season as runners up in their group.

Falcons 5 Crake 13
The League leaders brought down a strong team to defend their position. The day started wet, dull and windless and the match got under way with honours shared in the pairs games :-- Betty & Alison beat Frank & Graham 7-4, whilst Lindsay & Barbara lost to Sandra & Roger 4-7. After 7 games in the singles, Crake held a slender lead of 4 games to 3, with 3 of their wins going to the 13th hoop ! In improving weather conditions they then romped away by winning 8 of the remaining 9 games
Our team came within a whisker of causing the opposition a few headaches.

the home team emerging triumphant in all 3.
Lunch Time result Fylde 7 Bury 2.
3rd round: Mixed fortunes this round with both teams gaining 2 wins.
4th round: A strong round for Fylde winning 3 out of 4 games by a good margin no doubt buoyed on by the Blackpool's ukulele band
playing next door!!
A great result for the Fylde team with everyone contributing to the win especially Aileen who was a last minute stand in, playing only her second league match in four years and winning all her singles matches.
