Click your back button to return to FCC News. The Doubles was a Knock out and Neil Kellett of Cheltenham and myself were up against Peter (1 1/2 ) and Barbara McDermot (18). After a close battle we finished up equal after time and down to a 2 ball game between the two weaker players! After sparring for what seemed like hours, Barbara ran a hoop to win. What a game. My results in the singles were as follows League Played Howard Bowron of Penrith (14) and lost 26 21 Played Margaret Anderton of Bury (16) and lost 23 22 Played Barbara Mc Dermot of Middlesborough (18) and Won 26 13 Egyptian Played Roger Staples of Middlesborough (6) and Won 26 3 Played Patricia Duke-Cox of Woodall Spa (10) and Won 26 24 Played John Filsak of Pendle (2 1/2) and won 26 7 And finally played a friendly with Janet Davis (14) of Chester and Lost 26 22. I must say I felt a bit of a fraud beating some of the top players by virtue of a multitude of bisques, but at least I am learning to use them more effectively. The overall hospitality and the helpful attitude of all the participants made this a very worthwhile event. To be recommended! Ken
